Welcome!
My name is Liz Vitale and I’m a practitioner of East Asian medicine in Pacific City, on the beautiful Oregon Coast.
Acupuncture and herbal medicine have been practiced for thousands of years, refined by physicians as they passed their healing arts down through the generations. My approach to practicing East Asian medicine tends towards gentleness, reflecting the knowledge that our bodies are incredibly capable of healing themselves, given appropriate stimulus and space. The myriad interconnections within us and among us, including our environment, mean that healing one part is not separate from healing the whole. A small shift in one system can lead to a sea change.
In retrospect, it’s clear that my path to practicing East Asian medicine began to take form at a young age, sitting with my dad, talking about the stars and how tiny and brief we are as humans. I had the good fortune to experience acupuncture for the first time as a teenager - a sports injury had me sidelined and acupuncture was the only treatment among a variety of types that provided lasting pain relief. Years later when I was struggling with an autoimmune condition, the combination of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine again did the trick. I experienced complete remission within a few months of regular treatments. All this is to say that when I decided to study and practice medicine, the pursuit of East Asian medicine was the obvious choice for me. Aside from my lived experience of two very different ailments being treated, the more I learned about the foundational philosophy of East Asian medicine, the more I felt like I was returning home.
Working with our diverse community - people of all cultures, ages, and walks of life - brings so much joy. I have experience in treating a variety of conditions from acute pain to chronic disease, including autoimmune conditions, mental & emotional health, sports injuries, digestive & gastrointestinal issues, and allergies.
I am a licensed acupuncturist with a Masters of Science degree from the National University of Natural Medicine and went on to complete a residency at their teaching clinic in Portland, Oregon. Originally from New York, I moved West to study medicine and now my husband and I find ourselves very much at home within this amazing community on the Oregon Coast. When I’m not at our clinic, I can be found either in the ocean or on the beach with our daughter Marina Lucia.
Black Lives Matter. All Black Lives Matter. I aim to provide compassionate care in a way that is inclusive of all LGBTQIA2S, all BIPOC, and people of all abilities and sizes.
Our clinic is located on unceded land of the Nestucca Tribe.
